Welcome

Welcome to Washington Assembly #151, the oldest Assembly in the Archdiocese of Washington District, established on April 1, 1912.

We are a member of the Fourth Degree of the Knights of Columbus, and are a group of outstanding Sir Knights who are dedicated to the service of their church, their country, and our Order. The most conspicuous visible component of the Fourth Degree is the Color Corps, which serves as honor guard at all kinds of church and civic ceremonies.

Washington Assembly #151 is a very tight-knit community. It’s something very special about a group of men bonded by shared faith, values and interests, and this bond is one of the greatest strengths of Washington Assembly #151.

The future is bright for us. But we cannot sit back and reminisce over past accomplishments. We must move forward, by not moving forward – we actually fall behind.

So I’m challenging each of you, to make us better than we were – last year, the year before, and even the year before that.

This year, as your Faithful Navigator, you and I are one – and I will not let you settle for anything less than success.

Please take the time…now, to view our website, and see the wonderful activities and programs that we have been involved in, and have supported…and, imagine, you joining us in future programs, and being a part of our wonderful success.

Touch the lives of people you care about.

Vivat Jesus!

Many leaders of the assembly have went on to become State Leaders in the DC State Council. The strong patriotic programs prepare men to become leaders in their Council and Parish. I encourage you to become a 4th degree member and join Washington Council. I encourage you to be involved in the great programs the Assembly has to offer. The Color Corps team is one of the best in the Archdiocese of Washington District. The appearance and precision is rivaled among other assemblies.

The District of Columbia State Council is thankful to Washington Assembly for their great service to the Councils and Parishes they serve.

Thank you for making the dream of Blessed Michael McGivney a reality.

Fraternally yours,

Message from the Vice Supreme Master, Calvert Province, 4th Degree Knights of Columbus

As the Vice Supreme Master of the Calvert Province, I oversee seven (7) Fourth Degree Districts and approximately one hundred and seventy (170) assemblies.  I am excited about all of the Patriotic Programs that your assembly and the assemblies of the Calvert Province conduct.  And I am thankful for the support provided to the Calvert Province.

The Calvert Province consists of the District of Columbia, Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania and Virginia, having a membership of approximately 28,000 Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus!

I encourage each and every one of you in the Patriotic Degree to support our efforts through working for new membership in the Knights of Columbus, and membership in the Fourth/Patriotic Degree; perform Patriotic Programs, particularly those that directly support our active duty military and our veterans.  Assist within your Fourth Degree District with the development of new assemblies; and please consider joining the Color Corps to truly be a part of the visible arm of the Knights of Columbus.

If you work in these areas, we can look forward to nothing but success!

Fraternally and Patriotically,

Michael W. Thumm

Message from the District Master, Archdiocese of Washington District, 4th Degree Knights of Columbus

As Master of the Fourth Degree, Archdiocese of Washington District, Knights of Columbus, I am extremely proud to be among the almost 2.900 Sir Knights who serve the Archdiocese of Washington (AWD).

The AWD is composed of 12 Assemblies located in the District of Columbia and the Maryland counties of Montgomery, Prince George’s, Calvert, Charles and Saint Mary’s.

The Fourth Degree is often referred to as “The visible arm of the Knights of Columbus”  The AWD is without doubt the most visible of the most visible.  Located in our Nation’s Capital, our Sir Knights bring pride and distinction as they participate in ceremonies at The National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, The Saint John Paul ll Shrine, Saint Matthew’s Cathedral, ordinations, Supreme Court opening liturgies, Columbus Day celebrations and many more often broadcast on national and international media.

Combined with the dozens of patriotic programs conducted throughout the area, the impact that these Sir Knights and their families have on our communities, parishes, families is difficult, if not impossible, to measure.

As the Elder Statesman of our assemblies, I congratulate and sincerely thank Washington Assembly #151 for its leadership and commitment to every principle of the Order, but especially Patriotism.

OUR FATHER, OUR FAITH, OUR FLAG
